Dear future son,
Be ready. Be ready to be criticized by everyone in your life. Be ready, at some point of your life to doubt yourself, more than once. People will tell you what to do and what not. They’ll tell you how to cry and how to laugh. They’ll tell you how to fight and how to be tough.
If you were a boy and ever wanted to cry, they’ll tell you to “Man up!”. But I want you to know, you are a human and you ARE allowed to cry. You won’t be less though or less manly. I want you to show your emotions without any fear, because, my son, at the end of the day the life you are living is yours. If you want to cry because you are happy then cry. If you want to cry because you are sad or scared, then cry. Even if you doubt your “manhood” just because you cried, remember this; being able to show emotions is the boldest thing a person can do.
If they tell you “You are a mommy’s boy” just because you were nice, remember that I’ve raised you to spread love not hate. If they think helping out a fragile person makes you a mommy’s boy then be it. If they think being kind, helpful and a peacekeeper makes you a weak man then remember, being strong does not mean bullying, being rude or disdaining others.
Being kind and showing your love to your spouse don’t make you look like you are a less man than you are now. If they tell you, just because you bought a flower for your boyfriend/girlfriend, you are so “whipped” and you should be “more manly”, show your love to your spouse more. Show them you are NOT afraid to love. Show them you can be as masculine/manly as they are without being violent and dominant in your relationship.
